Sometimes when arriving at a tiny little pilgrimage church I open the heavy ancient old oak door not expecting to find the smell of a fresh floral bouquet to capture me. It is lovely when wedding flower arrangements for church decor get left behind d by the happy couple to be enjoyed by church visitors that come during the week. Many country florists or church flower volunteers have such wonderful skills incorporating bible flowers that tell a story. Some of my favourite biblically inspired wildflowers however can be found growing quietly in the churchyard or nestling in the cemetery keeping God’s watch.

Does your church have a dedicated florist or do you rely on a talented team of volunteers that share the flower rota ? As nice as it can be to see some professionally styled church flower wedding designs harmonising across altar , font and pew I also love the handpicked and foraged look that speaks of people who care about their church , forage from the hedgerows and share from the communities garden bounty. Celebrating church festivals often gives an opportunity for other people to pitch in who might not have thought themselves green fingered.

sometimes when I am visiting a church on the weekend I stumble upon a decorated wedding church where the couple have left the floral decor for other people to enjoy.
